Chris Green | St Katharine's Churchwarden

BSc, Cert Ed

I was born and spent the first six years of my life in Harrow, Middlesex. My parents and I moved to Orpington in 1954 and I have lived in this area ever since. I attended Cray Valley Technical High School (now Kemnal Technology College) in Sidcup and studied Science at Aberdeen University. After leaving university, I worked for BT for more than twenty years in the management accounting field. I then had a career change and trained to be a teacher, teaching GCSE and A-level Maths at Bexley College and Shooters Hill Sixth Form Campus, until retiring in 2010.

My wife Pauline and I were married in 1977 and moved to Knockholt with our two children in 1988 where they both attended the village school before moving on to Bennett Memorial Diocesan School in Tunbridge Wells. My wife has her own catering business and we spend our spare time travelling, walking locally, trying to keep the house and garden in shape and spending time with our many friends in Knockholt.

Several years ago I became a sidesman at St Katharine's and also joined the reading and intercessions rotas but it was a great honour to be asked to take on the more formal role of churchwarden recently and I am looking forward to taking up my duties and learning the ropes as quickly as possible.
