Jane Cooper | Safeguarding Representative

Jane Cooper

I was born and grew up in Bromley where I attended Sunday School and Church from a very young age. Training as a nurse and midwife, I worked for the NHS until June 2011 as a senior midwife, with particular interests in genetic disabilities and safeguarding. I have also been involved in The Guide Association as a leader from the age of 18 to date.

I married in 1978, and we moved to Star Hill in 1983 when our older daughter was just 1, and have attended St Katharine's ever since, singing in the choir and serving on the PCC for a number of years now. Latterly I have become the Benefice Children's Representative, responsible for implementing the Diocesan policies on safeguarding (formerly child protection).

Our family has grown to two adult daughters and five grandchildren - two of whom currently sing with the Youth Choir, following in the footsteps of their mum and aunty! We became foster carers in 1999, mostly looking after older children and teenagers.
